Regina Spektoris a russian-born singer-songwriter, pianist. She is awesome. Her music has this funky-folkish sound and I can't stop listening to her. She's eclectic and tells short stories with her music. Admittedly, I haven't always understood the stories at first but that's what I love about her music is figuring out the story she is trying to tell or the message she is trying to convey. She's been compared to Tori Amos and Fiona Apple.
Being that I have the best husband in the whole wide world, he walked to a record store one day last week in Downtown Portland to buy me her album: "Begin to Hope."It's freakin' sweet and I highly recommend you try it out. My fav songs on this album are Samson, Edit, and Fidelity.
Willow--if you're reading this, I think she may just be your new favorite too...her music reminds me of your style of music. Perhaps it's the whole Tori Amos thing?
Oh, Storm, thanks for the compliment. I would do it for you anytime. Regina Spektor does provide some funk in a story-telling way to the music scene, and let's face it: we all need a story every now and then.
So you might want to give Suzanne Vega a listen. She's similar in style and artistic talent. Tell you what I'm goin' to do, as a one-time courtesy, I'll make you a CD.
I like, I like. Did you hear her on Katie's blog? It was good talking to you the other day…things are more 'normal' for me now, if you know what I'm talking about. ;) Can't wait to see you in a few weeks!
Thanks, man! I did first hear her on Katie's blog...I actually started to pay tribute to Katie and her killer playlist when I was writing the post but now her blog is only open to invited readers...I couldn't link to it. Darn. It's going to be so fun to see ya'll again...I was just looking at those killer princess slippers for the girls!...
Sweetheart, you ROCK in...ROCKTOBER!!!! LOL. So, totally, I would love to listen to Suzanne Vega. Thanks for your music knowledge and support. I need all the help I can get. :D

We love the beauty, the culture, and the clean air. Some of us are transplants, one was raised here, and the other is born and raised here. We don't always update our blog regularly but hope you enjoy it when we do!
